Introduction

vIRF-1 is Kaposi's sarcoma virus (Human herpesvirus 8, HHV8) encoded homologue of human IRFs. It is encoded by ORF K9.

Description

vIRF-1 selectively blocks IRF-3 but not IRF-7-mediated transactivation. vIRF-1 interacts with the CBP/p300 coactivators and efficiently inhibits the formation of IRF-3-CBP/p300 complexes. vIRF-1 is able to block the early stages of the IFN response to virus infection by interfering with the activation of IRF-3 responsive, early IFN genes.

Application

Western blot, ELISA, Gel-shift assay, Pull-down assay (upon removal of GSH), protein arrays

Purification method

Affinity chromatography.

Formulation

Buffered solution containing 10mM glutathion. 0.1mg/ml, degradation products may appear upon thawing.

Specificity

Binds specific DNA elements and human IRF-3.

Storage

-80°C
